The Plum Plum is an e-zine dedicated to the accessibility of the written word and the image, and the interaction of the two in a communal space. The vitality and resistance that come from any art form are the essence of this magazine; we believe in the efficiency of language and the power of the image.
What describes the essence of a thing better than the thing itself?
In Michael Ondaatje’s “The English Patient,” Katharine Clifton says to Count Almasy: “I wanted to meet the man who could write such a long paper with so few adjectives,” to which he responds: “Well, a thing is still a thing no matter what you put in front of it.”
Later on, as a dying patient in bed, he says while being fed a plum: “It’s a very…plum plum.”
How could we not fall in love with this concision? As they say, an image is worth a thousand words. We love plums because they are just so plum.
Hop on over to our submissions page to find out how to contribute to the magazine.
